The Amazing Shake Grant

West Elementary hosted the Amazing Shake Competition, featuring 36 talented students from 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. Participants engaged in a series of one-minute real-world challenges, judged by esteemed leaders from local businesses. The competition evaluated students on several key attributes, including their handshake, confidence, charisma, poise, eye contact, and ability to think on their feet.

This event not only honed essential interpersonal skills but also introduced students to various networks, roles, opportunities, and career paths, broadening their horizons for the future.

During the Amazing Shake, students learn and develop essential professional skills, including:

  • Delivering a proper handshake

  • Engaging in professional conversation

  • Mastering presentation techniques

  • Enhancing problem-solving abilities

These skills prepare them exceptionally well for current and future opportunities.
